Like any seller...if honest, of course...you can't blame them for asking, or selling/soliciting, etc...it's more like "those silly ebay" BUYERS...
Back in the late 50s-very early 60s right after we moved to So. CA, LA-based KTTV channel 11...now a Fox affiliate, I believe...gave weekly prizes away for finding a $1 bill with an 11 (two 1s in succession) in the serial number. I badgered my parents all the time to see their $1 bills, but never found one.
Seems like that would be close to... 8% of all bills, assuming all numbers are printed? A bit higher if they start at 00000000 and don't make it all the way to 99999999?
I have this one laying around. I know it isn't worth squat but I just can't put it back into circulation.
I worked retail in a small town and the bank we use often has customer wrapped rolls. To my surprise, I opened a full roll of silver mercury and roosevelt dimes, bought the whole roll for $5.
