I was searching through a bank roll of 2005-D Bison nickels and came across one that appears to have doubling on the obverse in the letter "W" of WE.

Is this a double die or are my eyes deceiving me?

I'd say they are just circulation marks since the creases are not consistant with the possible profile of another W.

Agreed - looks like after mint damage.

I agree as well. You can almost fill in a line from the bottom of the W to the bottom of the E to the midsection of the T where it looks like another coin or other foreign object scratched or gouged into the metal on the coin.

I have searched several rolls and this is the only coin I found in this condition. Thanks for all of your analysis. I still think it looks interesting.

Wow, yours are in rougher shape than mine, and I thought mine in "fresh from the mint' condition were bad :)

It's pretty sad that the US mint rolls (at least the ones I opened) look in worse shape than some of my bank rolls.

The Ocean in view nickels in mint wrapped rolls were really bad.
