    I think the OP wanted to know if it was some kind of Mint Error.

    It could be, But I think that would be hard to verify. I do think it is odd to have that much "wear" only on one edge of a coin. Your coin seems to be over weight, Thick planchet. It would have to had been struck with two very mis-aligned dies to have that much weakness on both sides of it of one edge.
    Any comment about the quality controls of the Bogota mint in 1885, would be purely speculative.
