Clearly a slider. I think what some folks saw as an obverse cleaning was the fact that the reverse is more heavily toned. To me, the only rub I see is on the obverse, in the cap area. My guess is that the coin was in an album for years, hence the heavier toning on the reverse. The “wear” is not circulation, but is album friction, as many older albums did not protect the coins that well.
I was thinking of 58 but went a little conservative because?well it is a barber.Its like trying to grade some MS buffs by pictures some are confusing, especially the actual grade it got.
This is the type of coin that causes me to always think the TPG opinion does not matter. At all. This coin, based on the photos, speaks for itself.
It is a nice coin. I don't grade from photos. Based on the photos, I do not have any concerns. A TPG grade is an opinion. That is all it is.
