Going thru my 09 LP1s & 2s today I came across what may be a die chip on Ole Abe's shoulder. I'll have to check closer tomorrow. There may also be more die cracks and chips on the LP1 obverse running from the bottom of the "W" into his hair and splitting off and running down behind his ear and the other one ending at the back of his head. I also discovered a really small crack running from the forehead down thru the nose. I say "I discovered" but that is only because I have seen nothing mentioned about these.

Hopefully, pictures of all the above tomorrow. All dependent on the size of the "honey-do" list.

I did take some pix of the potential errors, but the lighting was not so good. I'll post em and with the above explaination you may be able to see them. Not the LP2 die chip, tho!

    Possible NEW LP1 Error

Here's the pix. Not real good but you can see the crack at the base of the "W" and running behind his ear. Like I said, not real good pix!

I finally got a fairly good picture of what I was referring to. The crack runs from the "W" down thru his hair with a die chip in the hair on a level with the top of the forehead to the right.

Desirable "errors" have historically been the result of things that slipped through the cracks of an otherwise pretty good quality control process. These LP2 errors speak more to the breakdown of that process. Hence, I don't think they will ultimately be very desirable as collectibles. When a coin has 1 or 2 error variations it's something special. When there are over 50 errors spotted on a single issue then it's just junk IMO.

    Die Crack on Forehead

I fully understand what you are saying, but to a newbie in error searching like myself it's a highpoint of my day! I had no idea what I was looking for or at until I started asking questions on CT. It's people like yourself who have made me interested in another aspect of coin collecting.I personally am appalled at the QC, but such is the way of the mechanized world we live in today.

Here is anoth of what I feel is a different variety of error on the same coins. Not having seen that many varieties attributed as I'm finding on these LP1s I want to bring them to others attention and maybe even get the credit for finding them. Also, selling errors is a way for me to pay for my other coins. Is that selfish or practicle? You can judge me as I don't personally know you so feel free!

The only LP2 error worth anything to me is "skeleton finger".
