USMC Coin and Stamp Set Question

I ordered my coin and stamp set on 7/20. At the time of my order the mint site read that shipping would occur on 8/5. My set is now being backordered one day at a time. It's up to 8/28 now, but as mentioned, this date changes daily. Can someone tell me if this means a lot of us folks won't ever get these sets? Thanks, Jim

Ordered mine the same day. Order confirmation said coin would ship in OCTOBER.
This Week I received notice from the Munt the coin has shipped.
Be patient your coin should arrive sooner than you thought.

The mint is getting worse. The last 3 orders have been s&%t or damaged!

 

Every time I look up the shipping date for my USMC proof coins, the date is exactly fifteen days from when I'm looking it up.

So they don't know when they're going to ship them, and instead of being honest with a response just saying they're backordered, they tack on a fake date for ... what ? To give me false hope ? I think I would prefer they give me no date or to make a real calculation of expected shipping date. If I weren't on to their little scheme, I might make plans based on that date, such as preselling the coins to someone (eBay, person-to-person, something ...) while giving the buyer the date I expect to take possession of them.

 

Anymore I just assume that my orders from the mint are going to be backordered before I even place the order. Meeting deadlines and customer satisfaction must be low priority at the mint this year.

 

2005 Uncirculated Mint Set

I was also wondering if any one has 2005 unc sets on backorder? Mine have been on backorder for 2 months as of today. What has happened at the mint? I know they wanted to get the product to us sooner in the year, but now everything is so screwed up with all the backordering. I am hoping this current process will change for next yeat. I would rather the coins come to us at a later date in the year than to have everything I order immediately be placed on backorder. Did they really screw up on the unc sets or just what is the problem? The folks on the phone at the mint tell me they are processing orders as fast as they can. From this statement, won't some orders presently on backorder get shipped next year after some of new coins come out.

I think this is progress. In fact, I feel confident that I am one day closer to getting them than I was yesterday.

Proving yet again that the Mint has its obverse up its reverse, they emailed me today telling me my coin is being shipped....it arrived 3 days ago. Way to go US MINT!!!! I've got my coin so no real complaints, but I thought it was fitting given their quality issues this year.

Hmmmm.....now I wonder if this means they are shipping me another one? Guess I'll have to wait and see what shows up in my mail box...and on my credit card.
