I did, once, and so I went and got it. I present to you, a better portrait of my wife, Gorgon: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/Auction/APViewItem.asp?ID=33360 stainless
That's swell! At first glimpse the gorgoneion face reminded me of the The Mouth of Truth (La Bocca della Verità) in Rome.
That's an awesome Gorgon , the history you told me about how they nailed them to their doors to ward of evil is cool , and if any coin could do it it would be your Gorgon , how about a pic of the reverse . rzage
Man am I stupid , I was looking at stainless' avatar and didn't even notice the link , thanks krispy .:hail: rzage
no problem, it's easy to miss the stuff right in front of us sometimes, like looking for your keys when they are in your hand. LOL!
I've said that quite a few times, as there are cases when "damage" increases the desirability, but once more so than the others. I've posted these pics before, but the "damage" identifies this as one of the 5 to 10 known Civil War tokens from the entire state of Louisiana. A complete cwt merchant, town, and state collection all in one token. Value is in the $2500 neighborhood, a bit more than the host coin's value without the damage.
Ever see a damaged coin, and said "I gotta get it" No, I can't recall ever doing that with coins. But I have at least one stamp item that falls in that category.
Yes I have! I see coins in a Parking Lot or on the road all of the time that are badly defaced but I have to have them. Hey, a Cent is a Cent and a hundred of them makes a Dollar! Frank
