Hey guys, BNB here. Was wondering collectively if you think the 2009 UHR Double Eagle will be a good investment for anyone. Do you think it will replace the St Gaudens? Apparently this is coin's design is trying to fulfill his vision.. I know 30,000,000+ are being minted. That to me is the only draw back of this beautiful coin. Some places are selling it for the ultra high premium of $3,000. What do you guys think? This over a St Gaudens(1908 No motto)?
Off topic question, what if I got a PCGS coin and wanted to take it out of its case and have it graded NCG just to see? Are PCGS coins easy to take out? Probably not would be my guess, but then how can I get it graded somewhere else if I wanted to just to see?
I think around 65K at the moment. I'd go with the old gold. If you could have done 1st strike and gotten a 70 from the begining, it would have been a good flipper. now the premium is too high.
Last official number was just over 75,000 I believe. I would be surprised if they make over 100K so IMHO it is a good investment. I bought 2 of them and they are very beautiful coins, not to mention this is the only year they are making them. I say go for it but if you REALLY want to know what everyone thinks this topic has been raised in the bullion section of the forums already... 51 pages at last count - ENJOY! http://www.cointalk.com/t46624-51/
The mintage info for the UHR is on CT and updated pretty much weekly by some devoted threads/members, if you know how to use 'search' you can get the answer and maybe try to do that before you post the wrong numbers in future. No. the UHR will not replace the original Saint Gaudens. They are two different coins with a different history, well, one has just started it's history.
Yeah, wow, 75k.. I guess less isn't more in this case.. Anyway, what's your thought Krispy on regrading a PCGS coin with NGC grading?
I'm only pointing you to the information that's out there and VERY easy to find, you go do the rest of the work instead of exhausting your effort asking and believing, but then disbelieving, everything offered here. You will be vastly more informed if you go out and read about it and seek the answers on your own before you buy. hya:
