Yes Lincoln will now be facing you like the Jefferson Nickel. And the reverse will now be the back of his head.
If we were actually honest about our country, we'd have a bunch of K street lobbyists filing up the steps of the capital. Maybe a wad of cash in some senators out stretch hand. Or maybe Lincoln rolling over in his tomb. But those ideas are just to political for this area of the forum. :headbang:
I'm sure ease of production and expected "life" of a coin has to be a consideration before starting production, but that flat flag. Surely the mint won't really do this.
I like the 17, looks good. I too like eagles on our coins. Does anyone know what the 2010 quarters are going to look like?
If they use the flag design and these coins circulate and wear they will look like nothing more than a big rectangle in the middle of the coin. Will just be a big empty shape on the back of our cents looking like the state of Colorado (or maybe Wyoming) Not a fan.
Somehow I think that may be a possibility. At least maybe for the bullion coins, China does pretty good with the Pandas.
Yes, but let me answer this to get myself off the hook if I can. The '09 cent is a special one year issue type of coin. Historically this is rarely done. Probably more than this one, but the only one I can come up with immediately is the Layfette Dollar and I'm not sure if I spelled Layfette correctly. How did I do?
Yes. I would think whatever reverse they start with in '10 we will be with until they stop cent production or the reverse is changed again in fifty years. And the dollar I mentioned it also was originally minted as our first Commemerative Dollar.
I know, I feel the same way. But historically 50 years is the change point. I was very glad they didn't stay with the wheat they came up with originally, and I was hoping from that they would get it right. Can this really be that hard to pick a beautiful design?
Go back to the classic designs not used yet. This is a dime, but I like it better than what is out there now.
