I was checking a little deep in my bank roll of LP-2 and found this. But I one posted like this one but the rev had 3 die crack this one has none.
The neck clash DV I seen had 3 die cracks on the rev this one has not.and the date & liberty are doubled.but there no a thing wrong with the rev its all on obv on this one. http://doubleddie.com/60701.html
I do see the neck clash but what is the image from the reverse. Both sides jello don't have to have a clash one side could only have it jello. I think you have something here Jello. The only posible explaination it's from the log cabin or his hair on the reverse the clash marks . I don't see any other areas that it would be. They can be die gouges but there nature doesn't look quite like them. JC
I believe the proper term would be 'Die clash', never heard of a neck clash. Caused when the two dies 'clash' together because a planchet failed to enter the die during the minting process. This can cause parts of the design of one or both of the dies to be impressed into the opposite die.
this is LP-2 not LP-1 so I can rule out log cabin. hair maybe or book. but hex there are far to many DV for LP-2 it is almost like the Minnesota State Quarter 70+ DV for Philly & 30- 50 for Denver
What you call neck clash appears that it may be a Die Clash! However, the doubling on the Date and LIBERTY appear to be from either plating shift or Die Deterioration or both. Frank
I agree that it maybe shirt I will a few obv shots of liberty & motto/I will add In God we trust soon.
I think it's a die clash from his underwear maybe BVD's did the old man wear BVD's OH and Rockdude we know exactrly what jello ment when he said neck clash The CLash mark is on the neck JC
The die clash may have happened on more than one die pair. Thus the lack of die cracks on the reverse?
