I went to my normal bank the other day to get some coins . after i finished filling my coin order ( I think it was all the Half dollars they had and 100 in quarters ) he told me that he had found a crisp stack of 2 dollar bills in the vault and he thought I might want them . He told me that he couldn't break up the stack I would have to buy them all at once I cant remember if it was 250 or 500 but i didn't have the money to get them. is this something I should go back and jump on or just a bunch of 2 dollar notes?

Just depends on the Series and if the pack had any stars mixed in...

If you get them at face 100 x 2= 200 it would be worth the look.

If you do not want them give me the address and I will buy em provided they are crisp/gem pack....LOL

if they are newer bills you probably didnt miss out on much. we can order bricks of 2's at work. we normally dont because there isnt enough demand for them. each strap is $200 or 100 bills as RickieB had mentioned. that is a little odd that the teller would only sell it in a strap. if someone came to my teller window and just wanted 5 i would give them 5. you might want to check out another bank if you want the 2's badly. just my .02:thumb:

As an example...say this strap of 2's are series 1976 printed out of the Kansas City Fed Bank....say you were looking through the notes and found 5 or 6 stars mixed in with them...in CHCU they list for $200 each...I would say you missed a deal if it were this Fed Bank and that Series...and there were some stars in there.

Knowledge is powerful...better arm yourself with all of it you can get!
I would have asked to at least see them...ran home and opened my book and called him back if they were a good series to get!!

Most all non star notes are inexpensive...but you have to know what to look for.:D

Study, study and study some more...:D :secret:

I would have withdrawn the ammount from my acct. took the bills home and redeposit if not needed. I had one teller say she had a $100 strap that she wanted to keep intact and I had to get them all. Series 1976 CU. Sold to coinshop for $12.50 over face :( Maybe that i or maybe it's the reson for not breaking up or maybe just makes keeping track of inventory easier.

I think I know why they didn't want to break the strap I live in a very small town and they probably have 0 call for 2's
That with the fact that he "found them in the vault" Makes me want to go get them as soon as possible the problem is I'm broke

Even if they weren't crisp new bill I would have picked them up. When my teller said he had a strap of two's I said sure I'll take them and this is what I got.
