I was wondering why some people on here have gotten boxes of the new lincoln cents at there banks and my banks in michigan i cannot get boxes of the new cents
This is a tough question that has been answered a few times. The banks can't really order these and it is a bit of luck to get them. My understanding is that the Armored car companies handle the supply of coins for banks and when the suplly is low they order from the reserve. They then roll thier own and box them up for the banks. It's just a matter of being persistent and checking with all your local banks.
Yes and you can blame the economy a little. Which is why even bank wrapped LP 2 rolls are selling for $3.50 plus.
Yep, all those people cashing in at CoinStar and the overflow of coins making it so the Armored Car Services don't order from the reserve. They will eventually be distributed but now it is slow going and anything minted just sits in waiting.
Based on the way they get thrown into the hopper, tossed around a bit, thrown into bags, travel to their resting place and the eventually distributed. i'd say MS68's would be rare unless you are getting the Satin Finished collector cents.
There are several methods to aquiring new coins from a bank. 1. Marry someone that works in a bank 2. Have a family member get a job in a bank 3. Find a family member that works in the Federal Researve bank 4. Rob a bank of all thier coins 5. Aquire the winning lottery numbers, win a large amount of money, buy your own bank I really have no idea how they do that but at coin shows there are many, many dealers that have rolls and rolls of brand new coins. Possibly make them?
