Nice, @Penny Luster do you just pick up a bunch of rolls at the bank or buy in bulk online? I find that bulk purchases usually yield a higher percentage of wheats than bank rolls, in my experience.
Really? I just get boxes from the local bank, about four boxes a week. I figure the online postage costs would turn my cheap hobby into an expensive one
There are a couple sellers on ebay who offer a flat rate shipping option if you buy a certain quantity (like $50 FV) so its not terribly expensive if your willing to purchase that much at one time
I actually just moved into a new area and havent got a chance to try out the local bank yet but I definitely will!!
nice finds i use to only buy cent rolls but I just got tired of it and now I've been buying dime and nickel rolls also and have had plenty of success finding silver and nickels that go back to the start I found a really nice looking 1939 not to long ago my oldest nickel find so far. Oldest rossie finds two 1946's.
You want to check these 1950s decade D mints for RPMs, as they’ve quite a few. This one here’s a BIE, take a look at the bottom of the B in LIBERTY...
They're $25 boxes, $.50/roll; depends on your bank; better still, on the amount in your bank account.
I buy four boxes at a time for $100. No service charge. Then I take them to another bank. I get around $95 back and go buy more. It's cheap thrills! I do sometimes spend a few bucks for donuts or cookies for the bank staff.
@Sley, because banks need to keep their retail businesses supplied, they can order as much as they want from their reserve. All it takes is a good customer and they’ll take care of you. It gets tense when you get too addicted and lean hard on them. They’re not all like this but probably the majority still are. My point is, unless the rolls you have are special, no searcher is going to buy them from you.
