They should stop selling them soon because they are now offering the second 2005 nickel. I think they will go up in value dispite the hoarding. Hoarders are tight fisted and there will be demand (QVC, HSN, etc..).
My local newspaper reported that they had minted about 1 billion of them. So, they may be selling them for awhile longer. The article also said they thought they would mint about 850 million of the Ocean in view nickels.
I know a handfull of people that thought these coins would be rare and are hoarding them...I feel sorry for them becuase all they have is a nickel each. Speedy
I think this is a good example of a coin that will never really be worth anything. kind of like the bicentenial coins that people hoarded because they thought they would be worht something some day. It is a way to save money though
