How the Wisconsin High & Low Leaf Error's were made!!

Thanks for the post. I wonder if anyone at the Denver Mint will be questioned about this given the evidence that it had to have happened while the die was soft, the probability that it was the same object, and that there are two dies that can be cross-referenced to see how many employees had access to both.

 

I think the mint either doesn't care or they knew what was going on the whole time.

 

Wisconsin Extra Leaf Quarters

I was told from a reliable source who has worked as a consultant to the US Mint that at least one person lost their position at the Denver Mint because of their intentional deed of changing two of the reverse dies of the WI D State Quarters back in late 2004. This source said that many of the defective coins were destroyed by the mint and never made it into circulation. I can not recall any coin being so discussed as to how its varieties came about. Coin error/variety experts still will not come together and agree on a sole cause. The US Mint s/be more forthcoming. The future will dictate the interest, value and rarity of the WI Extra Leaf Quarters.

 

The only thing Chris Pilliod and Rick Snow have managed to demonstrate is that the "low-leaf" and presumably the "high-leaf" were damaged when the die steel was still soft. It's also clear that the defects were caused by the same object. At the same time, these are by no means the only die dents that can be traced to a stage when the die was soft. Whether they were intentionally or accidentally inflicted cannot be proven.

 

Denver mint has too many big $$$ error in the last 10 year for it to be just a coincident
but proving it is very hard thing to do you ether have catch them in the act or someone tells the truth about what happen.

But would like to see the video surveillance tape of all area's. that would take a very long time to view all them ,but the act's would be there if error's were man made or just an error

 

There was an artical about these by Ken Pottor he considers them , not varities he states that they are just die gouges ending up in a good location.

I personally don't think these are die gouges there to conform in there nature and look like extra leaves.

I know these have sold on ebay and listed as a variety but i;m still skeptical how these actually happened at the mint.
