I just picked up some Mexican notes for a fair price. Both for under $100. It took me a long time to find the same notes on other sites to try and find out the avg price of these notes,I was wondering if anybody knew of any books that would have Mexican currency prices,grading and history of there currency.Thanks Randy
very nice notes. :thumb: i too have some really nice mexican notes. i beleive i have the same ones you posted plus some others. krause publications has a few books on world notes. they are quite large books. i cant find mine at the moment but it has something like 700-800 pages or so maybe even more. here are a few of mine from 1913-1914

I hope they were under $100.00. The Sonora note catalogs at $10.00 in EF and the Vera Cruz note at $2.25 in EF.
They are both gem uncirculated.I picked them up for $55 and this was going buy previous auctions and some that are for sale now.The first note was on a site for $350 obo in the same condition, This is why I was asking what catalog would be the best for current prices.Randy
Standard Catalog of World Paper Money, General Issues, 1368 - 1960 and Standard Catalog of World Paper Money, Modern Issues, since 1961 both are put out by Krause publications. you can find them on Amazon. foreign currency is way diffrent from US currency. with US they use the Friedberg # system where as foreign use pick #'s. those notes you posted could be 1 of many variations of pick #'s. usually the pick # denotes a signature change or design change in a note in any given series. hope that helps:rolling:
Randy, your banknotes are listed in the World Paper Money Specialized Issue. Your first note Banco de Sonora was issued from 1898 to 1911 . There's 2 types of notes for the 5 & 10 pesos. On the revers the note will read EL BANCO DE SONORA (1898-99) or BANCO DE SONORA (1900-11). On the front of the note the left portrait is of Hortensia C. Velez, the baby is Eros and the young lady to the right is Minerva goddess of science, art and war. Your note has no date or signatures so it would be considered a unissed remainder. Catalog #S419r Unissued remainder. Series DN; DU; DZ; (no date) Fine 6.00, Extra Fine 10.00, no price given for Unc. The Veracruz note was issued by Venustiano Carranza when he retreated from Mexico City in 1914. He established the capital of his Constitucionalist Government in Veracruz. The front of the Veracruz note has seated liberty with Popocatepetl and Ixtaccihuatl (Volcanoes). There are 3 types of ten pesos notes for this issue. Small 10 at right. Large 10 at right with brown back. Large 10 at right with purple back. Can't read the overstamp on the reverse that well so I'm guessing it's either Jefatura de Hacienda Tabasco or Jefature de Hacienda Mich. de Ocampo.
