I agree the LP-17 looks the best for me. The LP-9 isn't a bad 2nd choice

 

Definitely #17. I am also drawn towards the #1. I like how the outer circumference has a border and words in it. I think the shields should be left alone.They are a thing of the past,and should remain that way!

Seems like the LP17 is the popular choice.
That means we will not get it....

 

LP17 if not, the LP9 is also a good choice.
The other ones are poor choices for a coin design in my opinion.

 

LP17 is really consistently voted for in our forums it seems.
Gotta have more eagles on our circulating coins!!!

 

I am not wowed by any of the designs, but in descending order, 12, 17, 16 14, 11,15, 13, 18, I am about sick of memorializing buildings, especially that hall of scoundrels and fools we call congress

i went to the capitol on my senior trip in may they showed us the old congress halls and the crypt built for Washington's grave which was never used, we never even touched the actual halls it was pointless. I'm so tired of all these different designs on coins, the uniqueness of the state quarters is gone with the Nat. Parks and the Presidents and the Gold wives. The personification of liberty IMO brought more sprit of the country. I just wish they would keep the money simple. The mint now has a new coin coming out about every month just about. The 2009 were great but wee need to get a good design like the wheat cent and stick to it. The eagle or the waving flag brings more national spirit than the flat flag cause the eagle gives life to the country and the eagle does look pretty sweet. I hate it how our currency is going.

 

LP-11 or LP-17, and I am suprised 11 is not getting more votes, but I do like 17 and hope it wins if not 11.

 

It's going to be the design for 2010 and beyond. The days of the Lincoln Memorial on the reverse are history. FWIW I've seen all of 3 '09 cents in circulation so far.

 

.........it would be fitting to go with the eagle. after all didn't the first small cent (flying eagle) have that reverse? especially if this cent (2010) proves to be the LAST cent?

You could very well be right grizz. I don't know if it's gonna happen in my lifetime (I'm 58) but eventually there will be no cent.

IMHO I would say within the next 20 years.

 

I would say sooner then that considering how much it costs to produce pennies now, even though the goverment does enjoy giving away our money... Anyway personally i am tired of seeing the memorial on the back so hopefully none of those designs get chosen. I do think #17 is the best which does of course mean that won't be it.

If it is that flat flag that would really suck, because it is really ugly. Someone needs to find the designer who came up with it, and kick him/her in the groin, then drag them back to art school!

 

Is there any entity that we could all get together and write letters to? maybe it would help if we start a campaign to get the LP17 design approved.
