The damage is on the outside of the die (the field) not touching the devices. So it is die damage. Could have been from a harsh cleaning or from a feeder finger scratch on the die. http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/Feeder_Arm_Die_Scrapes-Images_by_Mike_Pope.jpg http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/Feeder_Finger_die_scrapes.jpg http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/Feeder_Finger_Scrapes_01.jpg http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/2009-P_LP2_Feeder_arm_Damage_collage.jpg
Same thing that was said earlier. Results of a die gouge, or a raised or damaged portion of the plating. Thanks, Bill
