Does anyone know of a coin collection tracking softwae made for Palm PDA's. I know there are numerous packages on the market for PC's, but I would like to find one for my palm pilot.

    Thanks,

    Troy

Do a search of this site for "software" and you will find hundred's of recommendations. For me, I use Excel. Simple and you can custom it to your liking. My columns are labeled as such:

    Date/Mint Mark/Denomination - Grade - Certification (if any) - Mintage Numbers - Purchase Cost - Purchase Date - 2006 Red Book Values for EF40, MS60, MS63, MS65/PR65.

I update the Red Book Values just to give me a yearly market gauge of the given coin.

now there's an interesting concept. Coin software for palm pilots... the right kind of software could cause some serious adjustments in the bourse floor trading routine.

So what do you mean by the right kind of software? I am thinking about developing something for my PDA. No promises on when I would have it done. A wife and small children make it hard enough for me to find time to sit and work on my collection, let alone write software for my hobby. But, I am curious about your thoughts on this.

I can certainly sympathize with the time issues. I just think that a PDA that could link up with software that gives current value trends and guidlines for grading would be a pretty good concept - like an electronic buyers assistant. Of course, experienced buyers know that information before they walk the floor, but I bet there would be a definite market for a lot of new or fairly inexperienced buyers. Plus, you could program it with your want lists, and prices and current availibility to compare against.

I use excel to track my main collections and a list of my priority search items. I use a documents program on my Palm and just download the spreadsheet. There's even a capablility to keep the two files in synch.

or I would be happy to send it to you

I keep it in my palm and upgrade it with each new purchase.
works great for club meetings and when I am in a shop.
Helps me remember what I already have and prevents me from buying duplicates.

Richard, that would be great. I am definitely interested in seeing a copy of the spreadsheet. Please forward it to taschenk@dstsystems.com when you get a chance.

    Thanks,

    Troy
