Is my 1958 D Lincoln penny defected

    In the top of the 8 in 58 the 8 is filled in with a very minute blob of copper. I don't think it is man made. It looks like a manufacturing defect. Has anybody ever heard of this? Of course I will post a picture, but the light is not right yet.

    Without seeing pictures I would venture to guess that this is a die chip. They are very common on lincolns of the 50's.

    Welcome to the forum texmech, it's a die chip and a common occurence. Not much of a premium on those.

    Very common not the 50's cents, not worth any premium actually IMO.
