Whens the mint going to add the 2021 Morgans and Peace to product schedule?

Proof Peace dollar for my proof 20th century type set. Still need two of the Barbers but everything else is a proof except the steel cent, SLQ's, and the Peace dollar.

I'm confused, you wouldn't need a coin dated 2021 for a 20th century type set. On the other hand, I'm very impressed you've assembled one in proof.

(Unless you're saying the new Peace dollar would serve as a good surrogate for the 20th century issues)

Same type even though a different century. Just as my proof Indian head cent is an 1885, and I think my V nickel is an 1890.

If you want half of a proof Morgan, there is always the 2006 San Francisco Mint Commemorative (and they are much more affordable than whatever these Morgans will likely be priced at).

Edit: and I know it's not quite the same, but it is a decent option for someone that likes Morgans and wants a nice coin that isn't expensive.

Yes, those Granite Lady commem's aren't bad looking, now that you mention it, and I did pass on them back in 2006, so...

The new dollars aren't "gotta have" coins for me, just "nice to have". If they price them at $69 & $74, the going price for silver dollars at the mint right now, I would consider one or both. Maybe. Have to think about it.;)

I have one. I also have the $5 graded MS70. That $5 eagle reverse is so awesome in perfect satin finish. Good point though on the Morgan reverse for the silver dollar. I really like that one.

Am I the only one that's impatient? lol Have they ever had a coin approved at the last minute and added to the schedule in the middle of the year? For something this major it's unbelievable that plans aren't laid out yet. There was all this excitement last year and all of the coin magazines had online articles with updates and now it's silence with no updates from anybody. The mint themselves aren't even promoting it which is causing me some concern. I guess it's also the fear of how badly this could be botched with mintage limits that's causing my anxiety. They have a full plate already so it'll be interesting to see how this rolls out if at all.

You can bet that it will "roll out" to the dealers first.

You are not the only one! I just went through something similar albeit with a foreign coin. It was a 2020 coin and I checked eBay almost every day until it finally showed up for sale March 1, 2021 (so much for sticking to year of release :wacky:). Now I wait for it to make the trip from overseas to here.

I emailed the mint to ask about the morgan and peace dollars, they said they will be minting them this year, but they didn't have an estimate for when, exactly. I'm not confident that we'll ever see them.

The bill authorizing them passed the house and was signed into law, so it's safe to say we'll see them.

That basically means sometime end of the year if they don’t have a date yet. Most likely fall at the earliest. They’ll likely want to space them out from the new ASEs as much as possible as well to get maximum sales on those

Maybe 3 days in late December, just like the 1921 peace dollars?

If I had to guess I'd probably guess October/November sometime.

Well that's a hedged bet for sure!
Product dates are released through June. That leaves July-Dec. (6 months). You picked two months, 33-1/3% of the remaining production year ;) I'll take that bet every day of the week and twice on Sunday. ;)

lol yea that’s the most likely for anything that’s not on the initial schedule especially when a big new product is hitting in the summer. They usually don’t like doing big things with big mintages in December since they’re already working on the ASE for next year

Im actually most interested for the new quarter reverse, with what appears to be such a short run since it’s not even listed yet (unless I missed it scanning) that could be a crazy low mintage for a modern quarter
