I thought it would be fun to post some juiced photos. If you don't have any, open up that photo editing software and see what you can create. Here is a nicely juiced photo to start. I could definitely pass this one off on E-Bay.

This is an exquisitely toned coin, but it is very dark. It actually does look like this if you hold about 2 inches from a really bright light source.

I'm with you on that one. Some have way to much time on their hands. Juice to me is a Martini with Olives.

I don't like it either but the way I see it is if someone opens this thread that says show juiced photos. The reader will know this look is intentional and looks nothing like the coin.

I would hope the reader would then take this info away with them so when looking at e-bay auctions or something similar they will know for pretty darn sure that the photo is Juiced.

This thread is definitely supposed to be educational. A collector who can predict how a coin will look in hand based on an internet photo, has a huge advantage over those that can't. Being able to identify a juiced photos is a very important skill. Hopefully a long thread of juiced photos will help our Cointalk members avoid being trapped by these photos.

Some photos are easily identifiable as juiced. Others are much more difficult. How many people knew the Morgan photo in the OP was juiced. If you knew, how did you know. Photos that are only enhanced in a minor way are difficult to detect. What about this one. Is it juiced?

We shoudl be showing the juiced along side the non-juiced to be the most educational.

    Let me try this again:

    Agreed.

Extreme color saturation was used to give vibrancy to the colors that don't exist. The large area of cherry red is a dead giveaway as that color is almost never found on Morgan Dollars. However, it will appear if you saturate violet.

You are correct, it is not juiced. Now the question is: how did you know that it was not juiced?

Could we see the un-juiced version of the 1880? or is it the bottom one.

    That it is!

First the toning followed the correct toning pattern (silver, to yellow, through the spectrum). Second this is just from me messing around with "juicing" pics, it makes all of the colors stronger, and from the pics all of the toning looks very light and natural to me.

That pic was taken under diffused light, right? I wonder how it would look under just straight on white light, I bet the toning would look much different.

Besides cherry red what colors are "un-natural." on coins?
