A buddy of mine came over to have me look at some coins he had. He gave this to me for an appraisal fee. I know it is legal Canadian coinage, but does anyone have any info on it?
I don't see any denomination on the coin which leads me to believe it is either a medal or a token. Good luck Richard
I think your right.. I am checking around right now, and from what I have seen so far it is not a coin, but a medal. I would still like some info on it. It is called, 1867 quebec white garden lily coin
Thanks for the link. So the coin could have been made a different year? Does anyone know when these came out. Calling all my Canadian brethren!!!
All I can say is that it commemorates the year Quebec joined along with Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, to create the nation of Canada. Before 1867 Canada was a British Colony. More than likely it was made in 1967, the centennial of the Confederation of Canada. There is another 10? medals that lists all the other territories, and the year (I believe) that the territory joined the Confederation.
That medallion looks like the ones Shell or Esso gave out in the earlt 70's. They came with a collector card, and they released one medallion for every province in which each one had the provincial flower on them.
