When roll searching....?

I have been doing some roll searching, and change jar searching in an effort to fill up some Whitman folders. I guess this is typical, I have filled probably 98% of the spots pretty quick and still looking for the last few.

But the question is, when I am looking for those last coins, what should I be keeping??

I am finding some dimes and quarters from '65 thru the 70's. Should I be putting these back?

I have been keeping all the Jefferson nickels that I can find from the 40's and 50's, but what about the 60's and 70's with those also?

Its just that I don't want to be keeping stuff that there is no reason to keep when I could be putting that back into getting more rolls, but then don't want to tossing back stuff that I could sell in a few years for even a small profit so I could buy nicer stuff later? I suspect I am over thinking the situation, and that I will get many different answer.

What do you other roll searchers do??

    Thanks
    Randy

Any quarters/dimes pre 1965, keep, otherwise dump(they are silver). Pennies pre 1982, if you want to, for the copper. Nickels from the 40's and 50's are good, after that I see no point.

Check post 65 for rotation and laminations as well as cherrypickers varieties.

acepharmer , reading that , i could have written it myself. Its exactly how i started.Theres no harm keeping the better examples of 60's,70's stuff , they wont always be so pretty left in circulation.

Clad Roosevelt dimes that have a strong strike and good detail are rather difficult to find. They might be good keepers. 65, 66, 67 of all series that you find with strong strikes are good to keep. I also look for strong 82 and 83 coins because of the lack of mint sets those years.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have looked at both of those books and will pick them up ASAP!
