Pulled this out of a roll a week ago. Finally got aroung to looking at it under magnification. I see something to the right of the mintmark that makes me believe this is an RPM. Too bad about the hicky on Abe's cheek. Am I right or imagining... Thanks all.. How would this one grade?
I'll have to reshoot at highr res and crop. That's as low as that camera will go without huge files... I'll try to add another later tonight...
.......here are a few. http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dietype.php?date=1943&die_mint=d&die_type=mm&page=0
It could be an RPM, there are known RPM's for that year and mintmark, but it could also be a result of the replating which I believe happened to this piece.
A dealer I respect looked at it this afternoon and confirmed it had been "processed". The spot that looked like the prev. MM was probably a shadow created by the process... Thanks all for the input...
FYI, The usual 1943 D/D is very bold and pretty easy to see, so even if this wasn't processed, you should have been able to clearly see the repunched mint mark.
