Marine coin and stamp set

When did people order who are getting the shipment conformations today, the 20th or did anyone order later and get one?

One's on it's way!!

I ordered my Marine Corp. Coin and Stamp Set on 7/20 at 3:07 p.m. MDT, and received notice of shipment today, 8-05-05. However, I also ordered the American Legacy Proof Set and the Marine Corp Proof Coin at the same time, and they're both showing an expectant shipping date of 8/21/05. I don't know what to expect, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for shipment notices on those two soon. I sure hope everyone else gets all the ones they ordered too!!

The mint was still taking orders for the Marine Coin and Stamp Set as of last Saturday morning, but I see the product is now unavailable. The Legacy Set is still for sale on the mint site. Good grief! Do we now have to worry that the mint has now made it a policy to accept more orders than they can possibly fill? If so, it appears they really could care less about PR, and only want to make sure they don't loose any money. The way it should be is, if you had your order in before last Saturday the 6th, then you should receive your coin and stamp set. I also wonder if the mint keeps any running total of what they have sold of a particular set, any how many sets are left to sell? What has dumfounded me the most this year is, the mint not guageing the popularity of the satin finish uncirculated sets. Mine have been backordered for over two months. Jim

 

Received my USMC Coin and Stamp Set today....I am very reluctant to open it...what are you guys doing with yours?? The Few The Proud the Marines!


OMG!!! I decided to open it and when I did I revealed the most perfect coin I have ever seen. This has to be a "70" in my eyes anyway..and the stamp is very cool. I have an overwhelming sense of Pride at the moment holding in my hand the very essence of why I am what I am today. "Semper Fidelis" to all those whom have served.

Would someone pelase provide information on this stamp and coin set. Is this a Government product? The reason I ask is that the 3c stamp was issued in 1945 and I can't imagine the Government buying up stock of that stamp and it doesn't appear to be areprint. The stamp is only worth face value. Is there a website with details? Thanks.

You might try to look at mint products no longer available list on their website for a picture of the coin & stamp set. The last time I looked eBay had a few sets for sale. Jim

Ranchhand Thanks. That seems highly irregular to me - I have never heard of the mint selling old stamps like that.

 

It is my understanding that the Gov accquired the stamp for the USMC Coin and Stamp Set to honor the USMC . You can read about it on the mint WebSite.. the stamp is genuine and not a reprint (I think). Any additional information would be appreciated by posters! (Doug)?

Now Cover's..that's no way to talk to a Jar Head now is it? I do not think that this set will ever loose it's value...then again, thats my opinion..."Once a Marine, Always a Marine"....On the Seventh Day..God said "Let there be Marines, and the Mighty Gates of Hell Opened"

I don't know. You might be right. However, some people have waited almost seven years now and the 1999 U.S. Silver Proof Set has gone from an issue price of $31.95 to a greysheet bid/ask of $330/$350; and while it may yet go down, I would almost guarantee it will never fall below its issue price.

 

Wow, the most beautiful set yet! I love the stamp.
