The way I see it is jeseash1976's original photo in the first post is a doubled die on UNITED...most likely the CONECA listed 83 DDR-002.

    N1tot's photos show obvious MDD.

I don't know what Bill is thinking.

The reverse has flat machine doubling on all devices. Nothing is larger in size like the real doubled die I posted. Note how the letters are wider and rounded instead of pushed from die movement.

I would say this is a doubled die on United without a doubt the images are raised with seperation lines especially on the U ,the coin also has a form of MD on other areas of the coin . The both doubling can coexist on a coin Nice doubled die.Well coop it doesn't matter if the coin doesn't look like the one you posted this could be another variety Doubled die with machine doubling on it to.I'm sorry Bill but , the images are not distorted enough to be Die detrioration doubling on United they are raised and clear and rounded ,and not shelf like for it to be MD in anyway either.

I agree that it appears to be a 1983P-1DR-002! It appears to be from Late Die Stage of the Die after much of the Doubled Die Doubling has been polished or ground away and after either an Obverse Die change was made or the Die Markers for the Obverse Die were polished and ground out. Although they are very hard to see, there appears to be slight Split Serifs on the Northwest corners of the "E" and "N" in CENT besides the apparent Doubled Die Doubling on "UNIT" and possibly the "E" of UNITED.

Were talking about the first original coin that was posted. To just show the none believers that this is a doubled die the Op posted look at the images now the U has notching and raised and rounded with seperation lines. This is surely no die deterioration by no means or machine doubling on the U.

You should have stayed with the original photo...this new one looks like MDD, not a doubled die.

It clearly shows the doubling on the "U".

That is why I posted a better pic, so the notching showed up better. I sent these pics to coppercoins, and waiting for a response. I will get back to you......
