I totally agree with your comment. This book is very comprehnsive and is structured very well in a journalistic manner. Sometimes the content gets a little fluffy, but it is one of the best books around IMHO.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but there is a book out that is regarded as a very good book to have for Lincoln Cent collectors and I can't remember the title or author. Can someone help me? Thanks.

    The World's Most Popular Collectible

The most venerable work I know. Dr. Taylor has carried the Lincoln Cent collectors pretty much on his own for probably 30 years.
    Main Author: Taylor, Sol.
Title: The standard guide to the Lincoln cent.
Publication Info: North Hollywood, CA : The Author, [1983].
    Extent: vii, 150 p. : ill. ; 21 1/2 cm.
    Year: 1983

    Perhaps you were thinking of
    Wexler, John A.
The authoritative reference on Lincoln cent.
    Rancocas, KCK Press, 1996

    or perhaps
The complete guide to Lincoln cents by David W. Lange (Wolfeboro, Bowers and Merena Galleries, 1996).

The new standard will be this.
Guide Book of Lincoln Cents by Q. David Bowers (Whitman Press $19.95 )
"Generations of coin collectors have grown up with the Lincoln cent. Now, as the coin nears its 100th anniversary (and the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln’s birth), Q. David Bowers provides a detailed study of this great American classic—our longest-running coin series. The book includes history, grading, varieties, a thorough market analysis for each date and mintmark, and a special appendix on error coins. Bowers even gives a sneak preview of what the U.S. Mint has in store with a 2009 redesign.304 pages. Full color. 6 x 9. Softcover. Foreword by Charles Daughtrey."

GREAT BOOK! I haven't read it all because I enjoy reading it too much..I don't think there are any other books that give a history of gold coins in general (besides doug winter's southern gold coin books), if there is let me know..

Coin Collecting for dummies with ron guth is a great book too!

www.coppercoins.com The person that has that web site has 2 books out on just Lincoln Cents.
As already noted though if you just go to the Whitman Publishing web site you will find many, many books on coins.
Of course the Brent-Krueger web site also has a large variety of coin books.
Another thing to try is just go to Google and type in coin collecting books.

    1804 dollar

The Fantastic 1804 dollar by Eric Newman and Ken Bressett (11 copies on amazon, 3 copies of the Tribute edition by Rick Snow. I don't know what this tribute edition is, the only addendum I know of to this book was in the 1993 ANS Coinage of the Americas Conference "America's Silver Dollars" that has a paper "The Fantastic 1804 dollar updated a 25th anniversary revision" 5 copies on Amazon) If you are of a scholarly bent I recommend most of the Coinage of the Americas books

The rare silver dollars dated 1804 and the exciting adventures of Edmund Roberts by Q David Bowers Has information about the coin, how it cam about, and was delivered. Includes the ships log of the ship Edmund was on during the deliveries and Edmunds correspondance with his daughters during the voyage including his decription of meeting with the King of Siam. Seeing 4 out of 5 Liberty Head 1913 nickels inspired me to buy "Million Dollar Nickels" at the ANA show. Reads like a novel.
