I'm still learning about double dies. I've seen a lot of 1980's pennies where you can clearly tell that the first stamp made an extra impression. I've never found a double die. Nor have I ever seen one. (I mean in person.) I assume this is a die deuteriation coin? I searched through about a thousand pennies last weakened. I have a few coin book where I've put the best looking coins I've found and was looking at a few close up. Thought I'd post the question here. Hopefully learn something about DD's. Either way, it's a nice coin but is a double or no?
It does look great! I love finding coins that are older and in nice condition. Thanks for your response.
This site shows you what the known doubled dies look like amongst many other things. The link takes you the 1960 ddo (Doubled Die Obverse) page http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDO 1960.htm
You are welcome. Other information sites https://doubleddie.com/ http://www.lincolncentresource.com/ http://www.error-ref.com/ There are some good info pages about the minting process, and how varieties and errors occur Happy reading and learning
