Looks like a DDR, Smells like a DDR, but is it a DDR?

Coin 1 appears normal. Coin 2, not so much.

leaf cluster southwest of the “B” in “BAY” is the area of interest.

certainly appears to be a few extra leafs stamped in. Did I find something worth getting excited over?

I don't think an inclused (I think that's the right word) strike can be Doubled-die.. maybe I'm wrong?

It's a common die break known as a die chip.
Die breaks are small missing pieces on the Die. The metal from the planchet flows into the break raising it. It's caused by a worn die.

As Ed said, it is a die chip. Fun to collect but not a doubled die.

Nice to find but it looks like a die chip to me. At least that was my first thought when I looked st the photo.

What about re-punched initials on the 2020. Anyone see that yet?

different coin, but same design. Check out the “a” behind the “m”

Initials have been punched “at least” 3 times.

Seems that way but that's the effect of Die Deterioration.

On incused doubled dies, I believe the incuse devices are reduced and outlines become irregular.

It's a good one to research. I remember some years ago that this was in a discussion where machine doubling (bump) and actual incuse doubling were on the table. It was regarding the incused letters on the shield of the Lincoln Shield Cents. A search here might yield something to that effect. If I have some time later, I'll dive into it. I don't recall where the discussion ended...and actually think it was at another forum altogether.

I may have to dive into that search myself. Curious what may come of it.
