I am almost finished with this Arcadius. It is very rough. I have some smoothing to do after I am sure of the ID. I think it is Arcadius VOT V with mint mark CON Gamma. It is about 14 mm.
A Heraclea version: I like the cute little portraits on these. Arcadius was only 5 years old when he was raised to the rank of Augustus by his father, Theodosius I.
Very nice coin. Mine was just a chunk of dirt. I wish I cold have done a better job. Thanks for the feedback.
Well, it certainly looks a lot better than a chunk of dirt now! Were the scrapes underneath the dirt, or were those cleaning oopsies?
Cleaning oppsies. This was one of my earliest and took a long time to figure out. I think I learned some from this one.
@ancient coin hunter Being so tiny makes them more difficult to clean. Mine was very encrusted. Nice job on yours.
A cute type, I love it. Mine is the same as @Severus Alexander's example Heraclea mint, 1st officina, c. AD 383 DN ARCADIVS PF AVG. Diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right VOT / V within wreath, SMHA at exergue 1.27g, 14mm, 12h Ref : RIC IX # 18b, LRBC II # 1964 Q
