What is going on with this three cent? is this an error?

    I'm not seeing any errors that looks like a deep cut/gash around the rim.

    Looks like PMD. I have a 1866 in better shape I bought for $30 . 1866 3 cent -Obv.jpg

    Might have a cracked planchet, but the images are so bad that I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Could just as easily be a bad rim dent and scratch. They also call it "high grade" but there is no way to be able to accurately determine the grade from those images. I'd be willing to risk $15 on it but that's about it.

    Ether he was trying to make a joke, or possibly he thought I was referring to his coin and not the OP coin.

    I see it as damaged.
    And even if it weren't, the price is too high for that grade.
