Just got back from the bank with rolls of Quarters, Nickels & Pennies. Searched the nickels and found some interesting oldies. Too many rolls of pennies to do now so I'll do them tomorrow. Thought I'd do the 7 rolls of quarters and see what I could find. Low and behold! all rolls are Arizona Statehoods! I've been searching and recycling them thru, but what would you do with these? I bought 2 rolls of New York bank rolls back in 2001. Wasn't recycling them back then nor seriously collecting. Do I sell them? search them for errors or just hold on to em as is? Help!!!!!

My dad told me a teller at a local bank had a special coin for me, so I went there this morning. She wouldn't be in until the afternoon shift, so I went to may appts. and started hitting banks on the way back. I found 2 2003A F block $2 star notes, 71,72 and 74 Ike dollars, 2X 1967 half dollars, a 1964-d half dollar and one bank even gave me a bank bag!. Then I went back to the bank with the special coin... a 1964 quarter in at least AU. She even knew it was silver and held onto it for me :D .

Started searching rolls again for the first time in 3 or 4 years. I'm sure my recent unemployment has nothing to do with it!

Out of 7500 pennies, all machine wrapped rolls in the $25 boxes, here is what I found:

    Wheat
    40
    40s
    41
    46 X2
    46s
    47d
    48 X2
    50 X2
    52d
53d with a hole drilled on the edge lng ago.
    55
    57d
    58d

    8 Canadian, 1964 - 1995

A dozen rolls of the new penny with the cabin on the back, all uncircuilated. I kept 1 roll.

About a dozen or so with various defects. Not sure if they are from the mint or damaged along the way. Will look closer into these. Going to move onto nickles next week.

Please explain the "bag from the bank" concept. Are these mixed coins from people turning them in? I get boxes and rolls, but never have gotten a "bag."

I just went through $500 of quarters from a friend's business. I found:
    9 DC quarters
    6 Puerto Rico
    2 Guam
One 1992 10 Pence. I believe this is Brit and made from copper/nickel from the looks of it. It is about the size of a quarter.....never seen one of these before...

And One Alaska P. This is significant because it was my last that I needed to fill my State Quarters Dansco. This is for you Dad! :D

    Have I searched these before?

Do you guys ever "mark" any of the coins you search to know if you are getting them back or if you are truly searching coins that you have not already searched? Speaking about boxes. I mean if you start roll searching how long before it is likely you are seeing the same coins again? Assuming you turn them in a different bank than you order them from of course.

    Thanks,

    Erin

The bank I use has a free coinstar machine and it sorts the coins into bags. I can purchase $50 cents, $200 nickels, $500 dimes, $500 quarters and $1000 half dollars i could also buy $1000 bag of dollars. There are 3 banks in town that I use but only one of them will sell the bags to me. When I am done sorting through a bag of coins I just take my coins back to another branch that won't sell the bags to me and run it through their machine.

I thought silver in Canada stopped in 67?

Nope, '68 was the transition year from silver to nickel. They made 70M that were 50% silver 50% copper and 170M that were 99.9% nickel in 68.
