So my grandpa gave me this penny a whiel back. its completely flat, no stamp, or anything on it. Thing is, im wondering: 1) is it an error? or 2) did death run it over? Sorry i dont have a camera right now, its being fixed. any help would be appreciated though. thanks ~Mag
If it is just flat, it was probably layed on some train tracks, and flattened by a train. If it is this, it is damage and not worth anything. But if you post a picture somebody may tell you differently.
It could be a Stage 1 blank; punched out but not yet annealed and had the rim upset. My 2002 Red Book says first process (stage 1) blanks are slightly more valuable than those with a raised rim.
Ran across this post. I found a penny that is a blank on one side and lightly stamped on the Lincoln side. It’s also thinner than a penny. Like a thin blank was partially struck.
