Wow, that is an insane find in the halves. I have to agree about the luck some of these people are having. I have searched well over $1000 in both nickels and pennies. No buffalos, no V-nickels, no Indian head cents. By the time I actually get one of these from circulation, someone else will have probably found a flying eagle or a shield nickel!

On the other hand, I had my fair share of luck last week. It wasn't a roll searching find, but I picked up a lot of Israeli proofs/coins/commemoratives for 15 bucks. When I finally got home and got to the bottom of the bag I found a David Ben-Gurion 1974 gold commemorative. At first I didn't think much of it until I checked the info online and checked the weight to make sure it wasn't plated. Seems to be the real deal. In the end, maybe I should just accept the fact that I have no luck with rolls and just keep buying lots at the auction!:D

I search rolls mostly cents but I bought a roll quarters and found an Alaska quarter that just stood out it wasn't proof but it had a look to it like it a reflection when you tilted it from end to end. Is that what is called cartwheels and can you find them in rolls? I know or think that uncirculated coins can be found in rolls isn't that correct. Uncirculated is a grade not the fact it has never been out of the mint pacage right? Thanks you folks are the most helpful bunch I have never had the privilage to actualy meet I get answers that are informative and never feel like the dummy I know I am. Thanks kent

Been doing the roll searching for a couple weeks now. See what you folks got me into? Just for grins & giggles last time out I got 4 rolls of nickels. Only get bank rolls, for whatever reason. Not expecting to find much, I was genuinely surprised.

    1 - 40
    2 - 48D
    1 - 52D
    1 - 59D
    1 - 61D
    1 - 63D
    2 - 64D
    1 - 72D

Nickels are not what I'm looking for right now. Want to finish full sets of Statehoods for the grandkids. No luck with the FDR dimes or the Lincolns thus far, but get some rolls now and then just to break up the routine!

    Question about ordering at banks

Do all banks "order" their rolls from the same place? Or do different banks order from different places? I mean if order one roll each from say a Wells Fargo, a Federal Credit Union and a Washinginton Mutual branch are they all placing orders from the same place so I would be just as good to order 3 from the same place?

If starting out, is any denomination more likely to produce "keepers" in rolls or are they all about the same?

    Thanks,

    Erin

    Wahoo!! I am hooked!

Ok gang, you have seen my almost silly questions as I am new to this. After 4 boxes of halves, and only finding 1 1968 40% coin, I was a little discouraged. Well, I had ordered one more box so today I decided to go pick it up and probably make it my last box of halves.

On the second roll I find a 40%er and my daughter in the room heard me say "cool." She came over with a little curiousity and helped me start searching. I told her if we were really lucky, we might find my first Franklin half dollar. No luck, even better, read on!

One box sealed in 2008 yielded:

    1 1965
    1 1966
    1 1967
    1 1968
    2 1969

Then my daughter found my first ever S mint mark 2000 (s)

    and finally...

    1 1943(s) Walker Half

Needless to say, my childhood hobby is renewed!

Roll come from different places. For example one bank near my work get Brinks (clear plastic rolls) while one down the street gets from someone different (paper rolls). I think the odds are about the same from both banks.

    This is just a few I found today :D I like the 16D and 51... :)
