After reading the July 2020 thread by DonnaML about this coin, I bought a similar coin from Leu Numismatik. Please show your Melqart / Trajan tets
Wonderful! I love this type of coin. Here's the one I bought last summer, RPC III 3526, COS III, from 100 AD: Mine is supposedly from Tyre in Phoenicia, so I find it interesting that Leu described yours as being minted in Rome for Seleucis & Pieria in Syria. Do you know of any article or other explanation discussing this opinion?

Thank you. The theory reminds me of the similar one set forth in the Woytek & Butcher article I've cited on occasion, arguing that Trajan's camel drachms, traditionally ascribed to Arabia Bostra, were actually minted in Rome for use in Arabia.

The coins minted in Rome have a very distinctive style which would be very difficult to duplicate even if someone had the need or the desire to do so. In reference to DonnaML post yes I have read that as well and I further believe that most of the tridrachms ascribed to that mint are minted in Rome as well.
