hey all, Ran across something I THINK might be what I THINK is called a woody, where the metals don't quote mix right. Am I correct here? THANKS!
It's actually fairly late for a woody and from Philly. Philly liked to send the woody blanks out to the branch mints to use so their Philly coins would be "better".
So Philly sent the (woody) blanks out to other Philly mints? And they did it so their coins would look better than the San Fransisco or Denver mints?
Yup. They got the bronze from a supplier, rolled it, milled it, punched the blanks and then shipped whatever they didn't want to the ugly stepchildren Denver or San Francisco.
