Hey Billy, all your ideas sound fine. Bare in mind though that gorillas are not monkeys :D What you mean is perhaps non-human primates.

I used to work at a place that had a large, large world map taking up a full wall in a conference room. Now I'm thinking. . . I should get a HUGE map, and figure how to make coin mountings to place one each country. Just display the whole thing, perhaps in a hallway.

I have a world collection with a goal of one coin and one note from every country. I started with the list of UN members and worked from there using a Kraus 1900-2000 catalog. I haven't even finished the list yet, let alone the collection.

How many countries have coins minted with King George VI on them. I know British India has a few of them, I have seen Canadian coins with George VI, British should have some and given that in 1940s many countries were actually British colonies, do you think it might be an interesting collection? Wondering how many countries would that amount to? Or King George V or maybe Victoria - a bit out of my league though considering that I am collecting coins at face value :)

LOL I realise that. I was thinking more in terms of exact numbers. Would be interesting to draw up a list of all commenwealth countries and checking if all of them had a King Goerge VI.

Just want to say "Thank you" to Daniel. He was kind enough to send a copy of his terrific spreadsheet of world countries. That will certainly help me to get a jump on restarting this part of my collection. Thanks.

I really should have mentioned that I have another spreadsheet as well - I would be happy to send that to anyone who is interested.

It lists how many coins I have from each of those countries and how many are listed in K&M and then it does some math to figure out how many I have in all, what percent, etc. I would be happy to send that as well, if anyone is interested. It helps me choose which countries I want to go after, either because they have a small number so it is possible to get them all (like Eritrea) or because they have a large number and it would be easy to get SOMETHING from them.

Only thing is that you have to take some of the numbers with a grain of salt. First of all, the numbers are basically for 20th Century - I don't update them every year. Also, some countries I just don't want to include in my statistics because they have so many varieties (like the Vatican) or are just not represented well in K&M (like China) that I just don't put in a number for that. Things like that. But it is still good for giving me an idea of where I am and where I am going.

Again, just shoot me a note and give me your email and I'll send it right out to you.

    -Daniel
