The new treasurer finally got out of the Senate Finance Committee, and they might have a vote before the end of the week (and they go home for the summer). Should this happen, she will take office immediately, and the new notes will start getting printed in October, and you should see one in January.
You're one step behind the process...the full Senate already confirmed the nomination on July 24. Now we're just waiting for her to be sworn in, which hasn't happened yet, but (I'm guessing) probably will within a few days....
When Paulson was confirmed, it took the BEP 8 months to start printing the $1 denomination for series 2006. It was even longer for the $5 bill. So while 3 months is the norm, several more months beyond that is not out of the question. Also, people start finding new notes anywhere from 10 days to 6+ months after printing depending on certain factors such as where you live and distribution routes. Take me for example, I am just now starting to see $1 2006 L-N notes out here in California, these were last printed in February while I read of someone else finding A-G notes, this block has not even been reported yet by the BEP!
