Hey guys. I'd love to see some Civil War notes. I don't know a thing about them yet but I saw some CSA's in an antique mall the other day and they really caught my eye. I've never collected paper before so any info and advice would be greatly appreciated. Do these number in the hundreds or the thousands of various types? As in total for what both sides printed.

What are the rarest and what are the most common? That would be helpful to know. Is there a source that knows how many were printed of each type for the most part?

Thanks for all the great resources!

Why is union/ Federal war time currency so hard to find? I'm not seeing any anywhere. Did the government destroy most of it?

There are several sources out there fro books and Dealers.
One thing you need to do is read about them.

Some were heavily counterfeited and replicas are out there everywhere!!

You can look at Heritage Auction Archives, Don C Kellys site, and do a general search for CSA Banknotes and you will be busy for days!!

    Good luck.

The only thing I know about these notes ,they are printed on rice paper and tend to fall apart(deteriorate). so watch out for pin holes,as the value lessens.

The show pawn stars had a guy come in and sell a bunch for double face value. Had some pinholes and a couple tiny pieces missing from a few. I was thinking rip at first, now not so sure. I would like to know more about these as well and will check out the links. Thanks.

My coin club always has at least 2 of these up for auction every couple weeks....they are nice notes, but out of my budget and wouldn't fit in my current collection.
