Here you go. Don't forget to look around. The guy is quite talented. He has a direct line to my Visa card these days . . . . . . https://www.landisstudios.net/product-page/bee-honeycomb It's a big one too. Comes in at 3 troy ounces and is a little larger than a silver dollar, but three times the thickness. Here is an assortment of his works. Z
Mr. Whiz, I can show you now what I couldn't before. I was successful in my pursuit of the "precious" below, and in 30+ days is should be here from France . . . . . Those amazing French Marianne medals I posted above had a very interesting little sister. I didn't want anyone to snatch it out from under me, so I resisted posting images until I had actually won the auction and paid. Now that it also is inbound to me, I can share. Those amazing French medals above were designed by an engraver named Louis-Oscar Roty. You can find his signature beneath the busts of the beautiful young women he immortalized in his designs. In searching for additional examples of his work, I ran across a French medal that incorporates his design AND things that are near and dear to you - namely, trains. I knew that you would appreciate this piece for it's design elegance. I wish I knew more about this piece, but it appears to be an award of some kind to a transportation worker or official. I found a couple of different examples, one bearing the date of 1917 was made into a brooch with a pin back. This one, made a bit later looks original and unmolested. Yet another "precious" that I had to have. I'll send you a link to the other piece if you like. For your enjoyment, another amazing piece of exonumia by Louis-Oscar Roty . . . .
"For your enjoyment, another amazing piece of exonumia by Louis-Oscar Roty" You've every right to be proud of it! Very beautiful, especially the Locomotive profile on the ribbon! Thanks!
"It's a big one too. Comes in at 3 troy ounces and is a little larger than a silver dollar, but three times the thickness." WOW! Lots of really nice stuff! I got the Bee, and some Nickels. Great site...Thanks for the link!! wlw
Here's some new Tokens adding to my collection. I'm waiting for one more but I don't like to show pics until I have them in hand! I've been wanting a wild boar Token for years but barely found one that I could live with. Also, the boy scout Token is a scarce one as most of them have the swastika on the reverse. And at the end is the Epicure Restaurant Token from the 1930's!
Here's a couple more pics of the Boy Scout Token above. I wanted to simply edit my above thread but I got back too late to edit. Here's a link about the different types of Boy Scout Tokens that I just learned about today! https://www.sageventure.com/coins/version1.html
I picked up an interesting "store card / salesman sample" earlier today. The design of the obverse was compelling. Z
I got this one there . . . . . . And this one . . . . . . . If something is "out of stock," put it in your "want list." Sooner or later they will get back with you when it is back in stock. You might have to poke around a little. Make sure you visit all the Mints. Some things are hidden little jewels. Z
Okay, here's the Canadian Beaver Token I've been waiting on, delivered today! Our brothers up North have some great looking Tokens from the past!
