The Missouri Numismatic Society's annual show is in July and I'm making plans to go to it. I'm also looking forward to next month's local coin show if it is open. And after having been cancelled the last two months, next month I will be going to my coin club meeting.
Thanks for chiming in Shanna....question....how important would overwhelming support from your normal vendors/dealers/displayers be in determinging whether to proceed or not ? If Illinois gives the go-ahead and the respons from the public seems positive but for whatever reason dealers/vendors walk away for whatever reason....would this be a consideration ? I presume the reverse -- support from the dealers/vendors but warriness from the public -- would be less of a concern.
According to the calendar in Coins Magazine, yes they are, yahoo... My wife and I are getting our first of two COVID shots tomorrow morning, hope they work. I am looking forward to attending a few shows in '21.
Hi Goldfinger! I'm not sure if my other reply came through so I will write again. I believe that both dealers and public are eager to come back and only if the State of Illinois does not allow large gatherings we will have the show. I would like to offer that anyone can get in touch with me personally if they want to know about any decisions if they change. My email is shanna1971@gmail.com. I'm excited to see all in August and fingers crossed that the vaccine rollout is pretty much completed (or enough for herd immunity) by early Summer.
Thanks Shanna....and I presume you mean that only if Illinois DOES allow the show will you have it. If Illinois says NO...then no show. Right ?
Yep! Near the end of July, but it's the same weekend as my wife's birthday. I'm just hoping I can convince her to let me go. It's not too far from where her sister lives. Are you thinking about going?
ONA has been a good show, I've traveled up from the DFW area in 2018 & 2019. There is that stretch of I35 from Norman southbound down to Ardmore, where flying low seems to be more important than a speed limit. I was just traveling with a pack, having pushed the cruise control up without realizing how fast I was going. Some guy blew by me and I said "Geez, he must be doing 90". Looked down to see the spedo was 92, just keeping up with traffic. Revised it to "Geez, he must be doing 110".
Before retiring I used to live about an hour south of OKC, SW of Pauls Valley. Since I used to go to work in Norman early, I'd take the interstate. On the way home I usually went home on back roads; especially on Fridays. Usually the TX drivers were in the most hurry going south and I saw numerous deadly wrecks in the stretch between Purcell and Norman. I used to look forward to the annual ONA show the first weekend in May. I stopped going when they started charging an early bird fee; a lot of bigger shows do that so I understand them going with the flow. However, I decided out of principle, not to pay more, for the privilege of getting first dibs. I'm sure others don't agree with my views on the early bird policy but if they are OK with then that's their opinion and choice; I'm OK with that.
They don't charge an admission fee EXCEPT if you come in like the 1st day or something ? Or they charge every day just more for the 1st day ?
Cleveland Coin Expo is still happening on the 2nd Saturday of each month. I usually attend. I couldn't go this month, but January's show looked good. I'm also seeing a few younger people (high school and younger) at the shows, which is a good sign. CLEVELAND COIN EXPO - Home
We have had coin shows in Northern Utah without stop, being careful. No one has contracted any viruses - of the 8 Corona types or any other.
