I got this with a small lot of large cents I bought when I started my Canadian Large Cent collection. I don't think they were paying the engraver enough. IMG_9144.JPG IMG_9143.JPG

I wouldn't want to carry a dollar worth of these in my pocket. For those not familiar the one penny is almost the size of a silver dollar and the half penny is larger than a quarter.

1872 Newfoundland Cent with a 180 Degree die rotation?
A testimony for Acetone. This is the same cent I posted earlier and I was bothered by all the crud in the devices so I put it in acetone over night and gently brushed it with a soft child toothbrush this morning. During the process I discovered the coin flips north south like US coinage. This is the only Canadian piece I have that doesn't flip east west so I believe it has a 180 degree die rotation. If anyone has any info relevant to this please let me know. IMG_9261.JPG IMG_9262.JPG

1872 was coinage alignment. The other Vicky Newf cents are medal. Yours is normal coinage.

Thanks for the info, I have flipped many Canadian cents and this is the first time I saw this.

It's not that old, only 46 years young, but I like it despite the smudges and hairlines. I got it that way.
