When it comes to stocks and bonds I have learned the hard way that it is impossible to time the markets (others may have a different opinion) but is useful to know whether the market is historically high, low, or somewhere in the middle. Does anyone know a source for historical coin charts, to get an idea of where a series stands at this point in it's history? tx

What you may want to do is make your own chart. Almost any chart you find is going to be based on someone's ideas and/or records of what ever they decide. I've known people that have made such a chart for a specific type of coin, not just one or two, but the entire series. Using the past Red Books for references. Or any book, magazine, etc where you could find a list of prices over the years. Since I've got all the Red Books from #1 to present, I've been thinking about doint that for the Mercury Dimes just for the fun of it.

I completely agree and have thought of doing that. You can really go nuts with that type of thing so I would keep it to just a few specific coins, but it would be a great way to get a pulse of the market - you'd obviously just want to keep the source the same each time.
