I would have been really disappointed if my cents were even a little spotted - that one looks really bad!
Yeah it sucks - guess i'll just send em back... I ordered 5 of the clad sets and they were all fine... quality control seems to have slipped a bit with the silver sets, or they just checked the silver coins cause they were all fine... pennies and dollars were crap though...
i have to wait and see the outcome quality of proof cent improved. so far i ordered 10 and received it. might go for 100 set if the cent quality is problem free.
I received my 2 subscription silver proof sets and they are both going back to the mint due to spots/smudges on the cents and halves in both sets that can be seen without any magnification. I called the mint and they said they will send a prepaid shipping label to send them back and they offered this before I told them I would like replacements instead of a refund. I hope the new ones are better and not someones returns.
I got my three sets yesterday. The coins look really nice except the lincoln cents. I was lucky to get five good sets with the clad proofs. In these three sets about 50% of the cents were less than perfect. I'm keeping them but I was a little disappointed after the great quality on the clad sets. I must say, the regular issue coins were really nice and the pres set was also prime. The quarters were nearly perfect. In all, I'm happy.
I got three sets while I was away on vacation. The only problem is that I ordered 5 sets. Couldn't figure that one out. I called and asked and they told me that if you sign up for a subscription less than 3 days before they are released, they apply it to next year. But then why did I get three sets? They checked some more and found that I had put three sets on a "wish list" and they had sent those. Okaaaaay! So where are my other two sets? In the mail so they say. :crying: Yeah, I took their satisfaction survey alright. :desk:
I got my Silver Proof set and I was quite surprised compared with the Clad Proof sets I received. All the coins were in flawless (I hope) condition except for 3 coins that had a shiny spot within the frosted devices. I believe those spots would knock the grade from a 70 to a 69 or a 69 to a 68. But only one spot on 3 coins to me is acceptable. I saw no marks in the fields and I believe I got a high quality Silver set. Has anyone else seen any shiny spots in the frosted devices on their coins? Bruce
If anyone happens to be in or near Philadelphia, the Mint's gift shop has the Silver Proof set available, bought one yesterday. One thing the employees there always do when selling any item is to open the set up and let you look at every coin before you commit to buying it. Good idea.
I had spots on all of my Proof Dimes in the chin area and after I took them out of the holder they were not on the coin. I think the plastic was just touching it and making it look like a problem with the coin.
