Red cents

    In the early 70s my dad would buy bags of coins from the bank & go through them for silver coins & wheat cents. We found a bunch that appeared to possibly be on zinc? (too heavy for alum) and red in color. We found about 100 total, but they have all disappeared.
    Anyone know what these might be? They were different than, say, spray-painted coins. Test run of zinc?

    Dissappeared? As in the off chance" I don't have them any more". If you do indeed have any of these coins please, by all means, post a pic or two...:smile

    Zinc would not be red.

    Probably somewhat rusty or discolored 1943 cents. They were a zinc-plated steel composition.
