Back in the early 1990's I was a clerk at a local store. While working there a lady brought in a 1890 -100 dollar bill in great shape to spend. I was only making about that much per week and did not have the cash to buy it. Bummer.
There are 2 varities of this note, Fr#377 Large Brown Seal and the Fr#378 Small Red Seal. To date there are 34 known Brown Seals and 12 known Red Seals. The Red Seal in "F" is around 60K and the Brown Seal around 45K If this is the case, then that person had to be.... well let's say lacking in mental capacity and totally insane! RickieB
that just stinks lol i often wonder what rarities pass through my hands on a daily basis that i dont catch!!! it really makes me think!
Hi, I'm new. Just thought I'd say that. I don't know much about any of this, but I had something kind of similar happen to me the other day. I'll be making a post about it in a bit, but I got a series of 1928 $20 bill the other day. The serial number is in green, not gold though. Took out my wallet and replaced it with another twenty. It's not in great condition at all, but was nice to find. I don't know what it would be worth, if anything, but still, pretty cool to have.
This is why I've decided to even if I cant really afford it, to even go as far as dig into my savings to get a note for face, just so I know I can sell it for above face even a day later and it will find a good home rather then the fed shredders.
