Question about a Two Cent Piece

Is $10 a good deal for a two cent piece rated Good? The shipping is free, so I could have the coin for $10. It would be my first 2-Cent. Here are the pictures:

It wouldn't be a bad purchase. It's up to you. There's enough 2cent pieces out there that you can find a better one in Fine for $20. This one isn't bad. If you're excited about it and it would get you started on collecting more, then get it. The thing that concerns me is the green discoloration on the reverse that probably is corroded. You could get one that's not corroded, for example. For every grade, buy the best quality you can afford. Sometimes, it worth it to pay a bit more for a nicer piece.

No one can tell you what to do. If you like it and will like looking at it in your collection, then buy it. If you're not sure, then wait for a better piece.

I think you can do better, just flipped over to eBay and found many, many 2 cent pieces that will probably go for $10 or less, including postage. Take you time, there are a lot of Good to Fine grade coins out there, one of them is just right for you.

I wouldn't really want to get it because it looks like it's got some detail missing off of it. But it's your decision.

As others have said, there are plenty out there, and you can find a better one for a better price

 

Depends on your budget. It's not a bad deal, including shipping but you could also try to pick up a better one for about the same price, which is always better to do, if you can afford it. These are too common so it should take long to snab a better one for near that price.

As Magman said it isn't. But, I hope you understand why I didn't answer. Not may collectors will disclose purchase prices.

Sale pricing can be researched on line at eBay, Heritage, etc. Practice up on using the search functions at those sites and you will soon get a good feel for what certain coins sell for.

 

Sorry for imposing. I was just curious. I just wanted to know what a fair price for this coin would be,as opposed to an unfair price.
I see prices on ebay but most of them are inflated and not worth the money.
Do you have any suggestions of where to purchase these type coins other than ebay? I have noted you mentioned heritage.

 

Part of the problem is that there are not a lot of proof 2 centers out there. Searching historical sales is your best bet. http://coins.ha.com/?ic=task-coins-us can get you started. No cost to join, just set up an account. Then you can get access to actual sale prices. eBay sale prices can help. Evaluate each coin and its price and you will soon get a feel for a sale that is overpriced.

Over the years I have assembled a favorites list of dealers that I would trust. I visit their sites every now and then to see what they might have in stock and for how much. It's all research, so that when I see somthing I need/want I'll have somewhat of an idea what the market is for cost.
