i was looking through my collection and found this coin. i think its chinese but not entirely sure. i ran a magnet over it and it didnt stick. Here's the coin- http://s697.photobucket.com/albums/vv340/JoneZ1120/?action=view¤t=P1010033_edited.jpg any help would be appreciated thanks!!!
Definately looks like it has Chinese symbols on it, but the icon looks like a cherub, or Cupid. Odd mix. Probably a fantasy piece, but I'm not certain.
It's not a coin. Probably a religious token as the legend at both the top and bottom is "heaven". Please post the other side!
Actually, while most countries around China have a writing system that is derived from written Chinese, the languages themselves are vastly, vastly different. There's less relationship between Mandarin Chinese and Japanese or either of those and Korean than there is between French and German.
That confirms that it is a temple charm, a good luck token sold to tourists in the gift shop of a temple somewhere in China, Japan, Korea or Vietnam. Most likely it's brass.
