There is a difference between natural toning and "market acceptable toning". Top TPGs will only slab what they feel is market acceptable. This means that it is probably natural, but even if it was from a deliberate attempt to create toning, it doesn't look unnatural. Most of this seller's coins look good. About the dime, I would say the BIN price is ridiculous, and I doubt he thinks he is going to sell it for that price. Make him a lower offer for what you would like to pay. There is no such thing as overpaying for eye appeal. If you have the money, and you aren't hoping to profit or break even, then go for it.

Way overpriced, with doctored photos -- like many of this seller's offerings, IMO.

Looking through his other items I'd guess that PCGS would not slab many of them and others are probably borderline market acceptable. The toning on most of them looks mostly natural with a little acceleration but difficult to say without seeing them in hand.

Photoshop enhanced and crummy pictures to boot...hey all he has to do is sell one and he's made a uber profit. wasn't it P.T. Barnum sed sumthin bout how many licks it takes to get the the center of a tootsie pop? Who would pay that much for Dr. Coins retirement plan? The world may never know. If you like those coins so much buy some clean ones and learn how to doctor them yourself.

Also remember it is possible to AT coins in TPG holders since they are not air tight, especially with older generation holders. Newer holders are hard for doctors to do. IMO.

I agree with you Mike although I think you were way too nice with your response.

Let's put it this way. I am no stranger to paying moon money for a toned coin, but I have never seen one coin that this seller has listed that I would be willing to purchase at his list price. His prices are so ridiculous they are almost criminal. Nobody who buys one of his coins will ever have a chance to get their money back.

Add to the equation that he juices his terrible photos and you have a seller that I wouldn't even dream of buying a coin from. I know full well the challenges of photographing toned coins, but if a seller is going to charge 40X wholesale for a common date Morgan, at least provide the potential buyer with a quality photograph.

The seller never sells any of these buy-it-now coins.
He is just like for a little fish to grab the hook!!

Be careful! I know more than a few collectors who used to say the same exact thing about Anaconda. ;)

In all seriousness, I agree wholehartedly.
